2017 Award for the Best Doctoral Dissertation on CSR

The Santander Center for Corporate Social Responsibility of the University of Malaga organized and supported the 2017 Award for the Best Doctoral Dissertation on Corporate Social Responsibility. Such a Center is sponsored by Banco Santander.

The award is intended to support significant and original contributions on CSR that are also useful for companies, organizations and society. There is no restriction placed upon the formal disciplinary area of the research so long as it is directly related to CSR or one of its three dimensions (economic, social and environmental). The award has been open to candidates associated with any private or public Spanish university, and the doctoral dissertation has to be defended in 2016.

This is an original initiative in Spain. In total, there have been 21 doctoral dissertation submmited to the Award of this year.

The Winner of the Award has been José Antonio Pérez-Aranda  for her dissertation “Valoración de la responsabilidad social empresarial por la demanda hotelera” defended in the University Jaume I. Eduardo Gómez Melero  obtained the Accesit for his dissertation entitled “La influencia de las prácticas de responsabilidad social corporativa en el desempeño organizacional y el papel mediador de la innovación” defended in the Polytechnic University of Cartagena.

The members of the jury decided to give two special mentions, one of them to Francisco J. Gutiérrez, for his doctoral dissertation “Antecedentes y consecuencias de la responsabilidad social corporativa y del compromiso con el alivio de la pobreza de las empresas turísticas: una evaluación empírica en el sector de alojamiento en África Subsahariana” defended in the University of las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and the other one to Carla Antonini, for her doctoral dissertation “An empirical analysis of environmental externalities incidence on financial performance” defended in the University of Barcelona.
